Raised in a family where creative artistic exploration and being outdoors was part of my daily life, I have been making things for a long time. In my studio you will find pots in various stages of design as well as paintings in process nailed to the wall. I work back and forth between all, each inspiring another. Recent paintings, mostly large abstract works, and pots, both wheel thrown and hand crafted, are created with layered thick paint, clay or glazes. Transparencies, scars and scrapes, infusion of color and light, iconographic images embedded in clay, wood, slate or canvas capture process . The earthenware pots, whether functional or sculptural, are marked by trace, the formation of a piece as well as the residual edges. They are works to live with. Pots for daily use, poetry pots, urns, wall installations and designer forms both kiln and smoke fired are some of what you will find in the studio. Trained as a painter, printmaker and potter, I find these processes crossover in the making of each piece.
Commissions are welcome.
