Ibiwisi Alpacas was created in 2001 when I relocated to Vermont from Hoboken, NJ with the intention of raising well-loved and shamelessly spoiled alpacas. These alpacas have exceptionally soft, fine fiber which spins into luxurious yarns of a light weight and an inviting warmth. Every year I continue to gain knowledge of the wonderful garments and accessories that can be created from alpaca fiber. Incorporating the use of dyes into my product has enabled me to incorporate many deep and vibrant colors that complement the varied natural shades of alpaca fiber. Hat and scarf knitting kits are my specialty, and I have recently begun to explore the world of felted garments. The word “Ibiwisi” is an acronym for the phrase “I’ll Believe It When I See It,” which is what so many of my big city friends said when I announced my plans to take the plunge into alpacas and fiber.
