While growing up in Northern Ohio, I was fortunate to have parents who were creative. My father was an accomplished woodworker and both parents painted.
My summers were spent at summer camps. Horseback riding and arts and crafts were my favorite activities. These camps had excellent programs, and I was introduced to many different materials, occasionally winning awards for my work.
I attended the Rhode Island School of Design for the freshman foundation course, and later completed the diploma program at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, majoring in photography. I enjoyed the immediacy of that image making process, and worked in that field for many years. After 8 years as the director of the Horse Program at the Putney School, I started drawing with pastels again, and painting animal portraits on small pine boxes. Having lived in Vermont for 40 years, this landscape has become my home. I am continually inspired by my surroundings and its inhabitants, and work to make images that convey the natural beauty that I see here every day.
