The Green Mountain Spinnery is a cooperatively owned mill that has been manufacturing and selling high-quality yarns from U.S.-sourced fibers for over 42 years.
Our History and Mission
In 1981, a small group of local fiber enthusiasts assembled antique equipment gathered from abandoned mills around New England and transformed the former gas station located right off exit 4 into the working mill and yarn shop that you can visit today.
To this day, our goals remain unchanged: to create yarns of the highest quality, to help sustain regional sheep farming, and to develop environmentally sound ways to process natural and organic fibers.
Our unique certified organic processing methods allow us to maintain organic fibers’ integrity ensuring that fiber gathered from organically raised flocks becomes organic yarn you can trust.
Our small batch custom lot processing has made us a reliable resource for farmers, weavers, knitters, and crafters of all kinds.
What we Sell
In our yarn shop, you’ll find a wide selection of richly colored, must-touch classic and contemporary yarns made from all natural blends of wool, mohair, alpaca, cotton, and tencel.
